National executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have said the issue of who runs with President John Mahama for the 2016 elections is not a matter of concern to them.
According to them, who becomes the running mate of the president is his prerogative and they will not interfere.
Rumours are rife that executives of the ruling party are uncomfortable with Vice President Amissah Arthur as running mate to the president going into the 2016 elections. Reports say the party is looking for a partner who can lead them into the 2020 elections after Mr Mahama.
But speaking to Nii Arday Clegg on the Morning Starr Monday, director of elections of the party Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said the party is not concerned over who runs with the President.
“The President has the right to decide who he wants to run with, that is his prerogative and the party is not worried about it.
“Currently, the party has so many important things to concern itself with so the issue of who becomes the running mate is not of concern to us at all,” he stated.
