We don’t deal with curses – Police tells Chief

The seeming rift between Kojo Bonsu, the Kumasi Mayor and Akwasi Addai aka ‘Odike,’ the 2012p presidential candidate of the UFP, has taken a new twist with Manhyia Palace, the official seat of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, being drawn into the controversial matter.

This was after the police rejected the invitation to investigate the curses hurled at Kojo Bonsu and the Asokwahene Nana Fe-Bamoah by Akwasi Addai Odike.

DAILY GUIDE learnt that the Asokwahene had reported the businessman to the police at Asokwa for invoking curses on him.

The Asokwa District Police Commander, Supt Adane Nyamekye Ameyaw confirmed it on Neat Fm on Friday.

He said the two personalities had written their statements, but the issue of curses did not fall within the remit of the police.

Kojo Bonsu however reported Odike to the traditional court of the Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwah Ampem, accusing the UFP leader of cursing him with river deities, eggs and schnapps over a disputed land issue.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, had banned the invocation of river deities in his traditional jurisdiction. It is, therefore, seen as a taboo to curse a person in Asanteman.

Odike, a businessman cum politician, who resides in Kumasi, is believed to have reported at the Asantehemaa’s palace on Wednesday after some palace elders summoned him to do so, DAILY GUIDE gathered.

The UFP leader, allegedly, cursed Kojo Bonsu and the Asokwahene Nana Fe-Bamoah with river deities, eggs and schnapps because he felt cheated by the two personalities over a land issue in Kumasi which eventually led to the demolition of his property which was under construction.

Odike is reported to have admitted cursing the two personalities during a radio interview in Kumasi, explaining that he took that weird action because the two men had a hand in the destruction of his property.

The top businessman was constructing a DVLA testing office on a prime land at Asokwa, but the edifice was destroyed by armed soldiers hired by the KMA boss, Kojo Bonsu.

Speaking with DAILY GUIDE on phone on Thursday evening, Odike confirmed, “Indeed, I have been summoned before the Asantehemaa at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.”

The UFP leader also disclosed that he appeared before the Asantehemaa’s court on Wednesday because of his reverence for tradition.
