We don't know how robbers get sophisticated guns - Police

It is extremely difficult for the police service to track down and completely stop armed robbers from accessing dangerous weapons they use in their operations, the deputy Greater Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Kwabena Danso, has said.

The deputy Greater Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Kwabena Danso, has confessed that Sergeant Danso in a one on one interaction with Kwame Nkrumah ‘Tikese’ on Okay FM, candidly revealed that it would always remain a mystery as to how most of the notorious robbers obtain sophisticated weapons to carry out their menace.


He explained that since the law permitted individuals to possess various types of gun through the legal means, it makes it difficult for them to deal with the availability of guns in the society.

“So many questions pop up if the police is to talk about how these robbers acquire guns such as the pump-action. Individuals could decide to buy guns and license it but to talk about how it gets into the hands of criminals, it remains mysterious. Though we are working on how the gadgets get into their hands, I can say that it is a difficult task”, he confessed.


He however advised the general public to master courage and call the police on telephone number “18555”, whenever they were under attack by armed robbers.
