The Christ Apostolic Church International(CACI) has denied that an elder of the Church has defiled a 15 year old girl at Akwaduuso, a farming community in the Atiwa District of the Eastern Region.

The Church in a meeting on Tuesday September 1, 2015 held at Koforidua said it has no Elder, by name Jonathan Okine in that community who is believed to have defiled the minor as carried out by the Daily Heritage, Starr news and starrfmonline.com

The meeting which was attended by the Corporate and Media Relations Officer of the Church, Emmanuel Opoku, the Eastern “A” Territorial Apostle of the Church, Apostle Percy Konotey, the Eastern Regional Correspondence for Starr news Kojo Ansah, Michael Akrofi, the Eastern Regional Correspondent for Peace Fm and the acting president of the Eastern Region G.J.A Ampem Darko – Koranteng Stephen, was in reaction to the story published in the Daily Herritage Newspaper and subsequently published online by the Starrfmonline.com as well as the Ghanaweb.com and read on Starrnews bulletin on Monday, August 31, 2015.

It came out that the checks and follow-ups from the Church headquarters, authorities at the local level and church members in the community indicated there was no Elder by the name mentioned in the story.

It was also revealed at the meeting that the informant who briefed the Eastern Regional Correspondence of Starr news in his investigations misinformed him on the identity of the suspect who committed the crime.

The Christ Apostolic Church however regrets that news editors of the Daily Heritage and Starr news could not speak to officials of the Church on the story from the appropriate office which is either the Eastern A Territorial Administration in Koforidua, the New Tafo Area Administration or even the Headquarters in Accra.

Though we regret the unfortunate incident and the condition of the victim, the Church is disassociating itself from the crime as well as the suspect and asked that this rejoinder should be published by the aforementioned news media and to render an apology to the Christ Apostolic Church International for the damages meted on the church by the story, to clear the issues in the interest of all.
