The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly denied the claims made by Kwame Asare Obeng, the Member of Parliament-elect for Gomoa Central, regarding a meeting where proposals for a potential alignment in the Ninth Parliament were allegedly offered to him.

In a Facebook post on January 5, 2025, Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A Plus, alleged that the NPP, led by outgoing Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, had approached him with a proposal to align in Parliament, including a commitment not to contest the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 election.

“The NPP, led by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has officially approached me to discuss aligning with them in Parliament. Their proposal includes several intriguing agreements, such as a commitment that they will not contest the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 election,” A Plus claimed.

He also mentioned that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had scheduled a meeting with him on January 6, 2025, to discuss his potential alignment with their caucus.

“The NDC, with whom I genuinely wish to align, has also invited me for a meeting tomorrow at 8 a.m. While I have friends in both the NDC and NPP, they have to understand that I will have to disappoint someone tomorrow. Let me make this simple and clear: deep down, my heart leans toward the NDC, but I will ultimately side with whoever has my interest at heart and provides the best offer for me and the people of Gomoa Central,” he stated.

In response, the NPP's General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, has debunked such claims, stating that neither the party nor its leadership had sent any delegation to meet with A Plus.

“The NPP has not met with A Plus, nor has it authorised anyone to convey any message to him on its behalf,” he posted on X.
