The Paramount Chief of Oguaa Traditional Area, Osaberima, Dr. Kwesi Atta II, has threatened to use force if need be to get children in the Cape Coast metropolis off the streets into school.

According to him, although Cape Coast is home to many of the country's first educational institutions and A1, many children in the area do not prioritize education; hence, they rather spend time on the streets.

Speaking at the 60th anniversary of the Oguaa Fetu festival in Cape Coast on Saturday, September 7, 2024, Osaberima Dr. Kwesi Attah said he's always worried anytime he sees children abandon school for the streets, sometimes following fancy dressing groups.

He noted that this has contributed to the schools in the metropolis not recording very impressive results during the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

"Statistics on the results of candidates in the region have been nothing to write home about. It is a sad situation, Cape Coast of all places. All hope is not lost. We can make it. It will get to a point; if persuasion fails, force must be applied. We will use force if only the force we are applying is for the benefits of Cape Coast," Osaberima Dr. Kwesi Atta Kwasi Attah said.

He further bemoaned the fact that students in Cape Coast are not able to attend any of the enviable Grade A schools in the Central Region.

Osaberima Kwesi Atta Kwasi Attah committed to finding a solution to this worrying situation.
