Amidst the resignations of several government appointees over allegations of corruption and related offenses, the Deputy National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Osman Ayariga, has stated that these individuals will face prosecution if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is voted out in the upcoming December 7 elections.

His remarks follow the recent resignations of the former Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana and the Board Chair of the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).

Speaking at the campaign launch for the Binduri constituency in the Upper East Region, Ayariga, who also leads the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative, emphasized that an NDC government will ensure that the law takes its course against those who have abused their office, regardless of whether they resign.

“NPP knows they have lost the 2024 elections. Because of that, their corrupt officials have started resigning one after the other. Last two weeks, we heard the ECG boss has resigned. He said based on personal reasons. But after the 7th of January, we will know whether those reasons are personal or not personal. Just last week, the ADB board chairman, who was accused of corruption and bribery, also resigned.

“A thief is still a thief whether you resign or not. So whether you resign today or resign on the 7th of January, you are still a thief. And we will come after them one by one. And to those still in government, the earlier you also resign to reduce your sentence, the better. If you don’t resign and you wait until the 7th of December, and we waste resources and catch you, your sentencing will be more than those who have resigned. But a thief is still a thief,” the National Youth Organizer stated.
