The Ghana Highway Authority has assured the public that it has completed plans toward repairing the damaged Dzorwulu footbridge at Nogahill on the N1 Highway.
The footbridge was hit by a heavy vehicle on Thursday, 10 January 2019 resulting in the displacement of its deck.
“A contractor is presently mobilising to execute the repair works which are expected to be completed in three days,” a statement from the Ghana Highway Authority said.
The Authority stated that the current state of the footbridge poses no risk to public safety.
Apart from the defective footbridge, there is also a huge dent in the innermost lane of the Achimota Overhead-Lapaz side of the road, which poses danger to motorists, especially those who are not familiar with that stretch.
Since the N1 highway was opened to motorists in February 2012, a lot of pedestrians have been knocked down due to the lack of vantage footbridges on the stretch.
Last year, the government announced that three more footbridges would be constructed on the stretch to mitigate the knockdowns.
