Accra, Dec 8, GNA - President John Evans Atta Mills on Wednesday said Government would in no way sway from its commitment to bring development and ensure the better living standards it has promised Ghanaians. The President also praised the development assistance received from Germany in Ghana's economic and social development effort and welcomed partnership with all genuine collaborators in Ghana's oil sector operations. President Mills gave these assurances when Dr Dirk Niebel, German Minister for Economic Co-operation led a delegation including business people and legislators to pay a courtesy call on him at the Osu Castle in Accra. The high profile delegation is on a three-day visit to Ghana to assess German-assisted development projects in Ghana, as part of a general tour of similar projects in Africa, following the new political administration which assumed power in that country last year. Ghana was chosen as one of the countries to visit because of her good democratic credentials, coupled with her regained economic stability. President Mills expressed the gratitude of the Government and people of Ghana to Germany for her development assistance and co-operation over the years. Describing Germany as a role model, President Mills observed that the economic gains Ghana had so far achieved were partly due to the exclusive support and confidence Germany had in Ghana. "We are happy to have you at this time when we are at the verge of commissioning oil operations. "We'll keep focus. Thanks for your visit which we see as a renewal of relations," President Mills said. Dr Neibel commended the respect of rule of law in Ghana and commended Government for embarking on programmes for better lives for the people. He described Ghana as a reliable partner with whom Germany had many interests in common. Dr Niebel announced Germany's interest in Ghana's security and oil sectors. 08 Dec 10
