The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has rounded off his two-day “Rise and Build” tour of the Western Region with a clarion call on all members of the party to close their ranks.

Nana Akufo-Addo made a passionate appeal to all members of the party in the region to work hard with unity of purpose so that the NPP could assume the mantle of leadership once again on January 7, 2017.

As leaders in their various constituencies, the NPP flagbearer called on the newly elected parliamentary candidates to be responsible for bringing everybody on board.

In particular, he charged the parliamentary candidates and aspirants from the Tarkwa Nsuaem, Jomoro, Ellembelle, Evalue Gwira, Ahanta West and Shama constituencies to put aside any differences at the parliamentary primaries and deliver an NPP victory in their constituencies in the 2016 elections.

“I believe strongly that with co-operation, we can become again, the majority party in the region,” he said.

He reassured the gathering that despite the happenings in the party and his continued efforts towards ensuring unity, he remained focused as the standard bearer.

“I intend to remain focused on the main task ahead, which is how to mobilise the majority of Ghanaians for a change in 2016,” he added.

Nana Akufo-Addo made this known on Thursday, September 24, when addressing a gathering of party faithful from 14 constituencies in the Western Region.

Earlier on Thursday morning, Nana Akufo-Addo joined Muslims at the Jubilee Park in Takoradi to celebrate Eid-ul Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice. Accompanied by party stalwarts from the region, national officers and other executives, Nana made a cash donation of GH¢4,000 to the Imams for the celebration of the Eid.

Nana Akufo-Addo also paid a courtesy call on the chief of Supomu-Dunkwa, Nana Pansor IV. The chief appealed to the NPP flagbearer to help construct a senior high school in the area, when he wins the 2016 election.

Nana, who had been consistent over the years that education will be a priority of his government, obliged and assured the chiefs and the people of Supomu-Dunkwa that when he is elected president, he will respond to the request.

Additionally, he also indicated that his government would put Ghana’s economy back on track, which would then ensure the creation of jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in the area and in Ghana.

At Yabiw, Nana Kwamina Wianu II, chief of Yabiw and acting president of the Shama Traditional Council, assured Nana Akufo-Addo that God would reward his perseverance in 2016, as over the years everything had shown that all he (Nana) wants to do is to improve the livelihoods of Ghanaians when he wins the election.

The NPP leader also interacted with the fisher folks at the Aboadzi beach, with a firm assurance that his government would create the requisite conditions for a thriving fishing industry.

Nana Addo was accompanied on his Western Regional tour by a good number of party stalwarts.
