A private legal practitioner and a member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Gabby Asare Otchere Darko has asked the opposition National Democratic Congress to grow up from the post-Ayawaso by-election violence.

Recounting his ordeal on Facebook, he explained how pro-NDC and Pro-government newspaper mocked him when he was shot at the Let My Vote Count Demonstration.

According to him, he was unfairly treated.

“Yes. We were mocked at by the Presidency when we were shot at and below is an account by a pro-NDC, pro-government newspaper at the time.

"Akufo-Addo has set up a commission of enquiry when similar violence occurred in a by-election under his Govt.

"Feel the difference. We must grow up from this by-election madness. The stakes are never that high."

He, therefore, urged NDC to be consistent as they all work against violence in Ghanaian elections and body politics.

“Not a single member of the John Mahama government found the compassion to visit this young man who lost his eye for protesting for a clean voters’ register.

"Indeed they chose to mock him! Today, you have this same group of people behaving as if they are truly disgusted by what happened in Ayawaso West Wuogon. I doubt that.

"We must all work against violence in our elections. But we must be consistent. NDC has not been consistent. Mahama is not consistent,” he stressed.
