A Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has refused to comment on calls by Victor Smith to clean and clear all the current crop of leaders for failing to secure victory for former president Mahama.

The former Ambassador to United Kingdom under Mahama slammed the current executives and noted that there not selflessness enough.

Victor Smith who failed in his parliamentary bid in 2016 said, ‘’NDC needs a new crop of die hard, selfless, national executives, people with conviction to lead the party. The party must vote out the current national leaders.’’

But when asked to comment on the call by Victor Smith, the deputy scribe of the NDC said, as an elected executive of the NDC with a mandate up to 2018; at this time that the NPP is under serious pressure, I will not waste my time discussing NDC internal matters.

My soul will punish me if I engage in any NDC internal matters, to take the pressure away from the NPP.’’ The party he added is waiting for the Kwesi Botchwey report and that 2018 is coming for everybody to contest. I am interested in continuing to pile pressure on the failing NPP.’’

Koku Anyidoho speaking to Kwame Tutu on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm said, it was very sad at this time that the party [NPP] is under pressure and they have to pile more pressure on them, some individuals are scheming to divert attention.

The fierce critic of President Nana Akufo Addo stressed that, the renewal of the mandate of party executives is the hands of delegates and grass root and not in the mouth of anybody. But they will judge by the extent which we focus on piling pressure on NPP and not piling pressure on the NDC itself.’’

He said, if party members’ respects the constitution of the party they will not be engaging in matters like what Victor Smith is doing.

Koku Anyidoho lamented that the party has said time without number that, individuals who are aggrieved should respect the committee set up to review the defeat.

According to him, party members interested in contesting for positions should channel their energies in helping the NPP sink and fail rather than attacking the party [NDC].

‘’The NPP is failing, the NPP is sinking. So those who think we must come back in 2020 must help us sink the NPP first. Those who think 2020 we must come back and are in a hurry must help us sink the NPP first. If the NPP does not sink, we are not coming back.’’
