Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Anthony Abayifaa Karbo has urged for more investment in people as it is ‘brains and not brawns which build a nation.’
The Deputy Minister who is also MP for Lawra was addressing a gathering of the Chiefs and Peoples of Lawra during the town’s 42nd Kobine Festival.
Speaking to reporter Kofi Hagan after the event, the MP while praising the President for introducing Free SHS urged constituents to also, within their own might and means, invest in their people.
“Free SHS would undoubtedly count among the biggest investment we have made in our human resource for a long time, but, if there is more we can do, within our own means, then I urge that we do it.,” he stressed.
”We must invest in our people if our communities are to be built and sustained. We must invest in our people if the opportunities we envisage to create can be of benefit to our own people.”
Asked what he has done so far in that direction, the MP provided figures showing massive investment in education, water and sanitation, health and employment.
Kobine is a three-day post-harvest festival celebrated by the people of Lawra. The three-day festival culminates with dancing and feasting. This year’s Kobine festival saw the attendance of several dignitaries including Ministers of State from both Ghana and Burkina Faso.
