The Headmistress of Nungua Secondary school, Ellen Asare-Pepra has called on government and all stakeholders to come to the aid of the school.

The headmistress said, the school since the advent of the Free Senior High School and double track system, a flagship programme of the Akufo-Addo led government has doubled the lingering accommodation problems of students and teachers.

She said, “The school received a number of 921 students through the double track system an increase from the 873 usually admitted to the school annually”

Mrs Asare-Pepra added that, the school operates from a classroom block at its administration block adding that “students are compelled to use the dinner hall for their electives classes, some also use the NOSA gardens for their lessons”

The headmistress added that, the school population of 2031 has no staff accommodation on campus which greatly undermines discipline looking at the heavy population size of the school.

According to her, male students were housed in a temporary structure awaiting for the demolition of the old dilapidated boys dormitory and the construction of a new one.

“Male boarding students are housed in a temporary structure because of the dilapidated nature if the old boys dormitory” she said

Mrs Asare-Pepra lamented on the risk students who accessed the Information Communication Technology (ICT) lab were exposed to because of the rusting nature of the container turned lab.

“The school is struggling with a hand-full of computers in an almost broken down container ICT lab” she said The headmistress said, “I plead with government and all stakeholders to come to aid and help us refurbish our classrooms, library and ICT lab into a state of the art facilities’ she pleaded.

Madam Asare-Pepra was speaking at the school’s 35th speech and prize giving day themed “Free SHS, the role of stakeholders to achieve quality education”
