Some Fulanis in the Agogo area say they have no option than to defend themselves if attacked by locals.

According to them, they've been at the receiving end in the current impasse contrary to media reports suggesting that they are rather the aggressors.

Speaking on Atinka News Friday, one Musa Ali, a Fulani said his kinsmen were being slaughtered by some locals and that they (Fulanis) will do everything possible to defend themselves.

He revealed that his uncle was killed just four days ago and that he will not look on for the next killing to happen.

“I’m also ready to kill to defend myself,” Ali charged in an interview on the Midday News bulletin on Atinka FM, Friday, March 11, 2016.

Ali, who claimed to be married to an Asante woman said, the latest impasse was triggered by a misunderstanding between Fulani youth and Agogo youth.

“A young Fulani boy fought with a Priest called Okomfo Badu and ended up killing him, but the issue was resolved,” he recounted.

“I don’t know why some people in Agogo want us to leave even though many Fulani’s have been killed. My wife is an Asante and our children have Asante blood running through them so if they are saying we should leave, then they are attacking their own people,” Ali said.

He further revealed that some people have turned the conflict into some sort of business.

“They kill our cows and sell them at cheaper prices while others use a severed hand of a Fulani for ritual purposes,” Ali alleged.

Even though Ali said he was not condoning evil, he warned that he would ruthlessly deal with anyone who attacks his family.

The National President of the Fulani Association in Ghana, Prof. Osman Barry earlier on Friday, told Atinka AM Drive that Fulanis were being attacked almost on a daily basis without any provocation.

“They don’t report the series of attacks meted out to Fulanis in that area. If I tell you the number Fulani’s who have been killed in that area, you will be shocked," he said.

Professor Barry showed nerve-chilling pictures of lynched and butchered Fulanis in the Asante Akyem North District to his host, Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.
