The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa Central, Alhaji MA Seidu, has predicted that Ghana?s biggest opposition party (NDC) would surprise its political opponents after its forthcoming congress scheduled for 21 December.
According to the MP, there are some politicians, social commentators and media practitioners who pray for the total collapse of the party. He noted that such people are once again ?going to eat their words? since the NDC was going to be more vibrant and stronger after the December congress.
The Wa Central MP made this observation in an interview with The Crusading Guide in Accra recently. According to him, the forthcoming congress would provide a platform for introspection and self-appraisal towards the transformation that is believed necessary to restore the fortunes of NDC in the 2004 elections.
He noted that the current bickering and factionalism within the party were good for democracy. He advocated that anyone who would emerge flagbearer of the party must expand opportunities for creative leadership within it.
He urged party faithfuls, supporters and gurus to accept the recent media criticisms of the party since they are good for making the party strong. Assessing the two NDC presidential aspirants, Alhaji Seidu said the two candidates, Prof J.E. Atta-Mills and Dr Kwesi Botchwey, are good materials who can lead the party to kick the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government out of power, come December 2004.
He maintained that anyone who would emerge winner after congress would be supported by all the sitting NDC Minority members of Parliament.
