‘On Friday when President Akufo-Addo addressed the nation, never did he mention that he has given the power to the military or police to use brute force on citizens’, a member of the legal team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Abraham Amaliba has said.
In a phone interview on Ahotor FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the private legal practitioner said “The police can arrest people who flout laws. But people should first understand what the President said and shouldn’t misinterpret it. The banks and other people offering essential services can all go to work.”
According to him if all the about security brutalities in videos circulating are true then he feels sorry for mother Ghana.
“What is happening if it is true is very sad, you have no right to beat up the person…what is happening shows that the mindset of the security agencies is to beat up the citizens, and mind them we are not in the military regime but democracy “, he told the host, Citizen Kofi Owusu.
He, therefore, called on the various heads of the security to address the content of the videos going around that suggest that their personnel are ready to beat citizens who flout the directives of the President.
Lawyer Amaliba asked citizens to obey the orders of President Akufo-Addo and avoid running into unnecessary confrontations with the security services.
