Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) say they salvaged over 97 percent of the Kasoa new market from being deluged by fire on Sunday, August 25, 2024.
The fire destroyed 76 market stalls and their merchandise, but firefighters managed to control the blaze with four fire appliances deployed from Kasoa, Budumburam, Dansoman, and Korle Bu fire stations.
Despite challenges, including gas cylinder explosions which aided fire spread and difficulty in accessing the seat of fire, no injuries were recorded.
The cause of fire is under investigation.
