An opposition party in Togo says it will welcome any move by Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo to mediate in the current political situation in that country.

Speaking in an interview with 3FM, Kafui Adjamagbo –Johnson, who is the secretary general of the Convention Democratic Des Peuples Africains (CDPA), said the focus of any medication talk will be on how to implement to the latter provisions of the constitution adopted in 1992 by the country.

“You know we are ready if anybody calls on us we will come but we just want to discuss the way we will proceed so that the constitution that we have adopted with all the provisions that we adopted come to fruition…”

Opposition parties in Togo on Friday, August 25 organized a nationwide strike which forms part of a series of action meant to drum home their demand for the implementation of a provision in their constitution adopted in 1992 which limits the term of a president.

Kafui Adjamagbo further hint of what she describes as a massive protest to hit the country on Wednesday, August 30.

It will be recalled that MP for South Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablawka has called for Ghana’s president to intervene in the political situation in Togo.

According to him, President Akufo Addo must use diplomatic means to help restore calm in Togo.

He further explained that Ghana will not be only worse hit by any disturbances in Togo but the president has what it takes to mediate between feuding parties in Togo.
