Former Deputy Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu says the government wants to throw dust in the eyes of the citizenry by claiming that over 200 vehicles are missing from the presidency.

According to him, “we have accounted for 641 vehicles,” two of which are bullet-proof saloon cars at the president’s disposal. He made these known on TV3’s News 360 on Thursday, February 9.

Mr Kwakye Ofosu says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been aware that the vehicles are not missing. On Wednesday, February 8, Presidential Spokesperson Eugene Arhin indicated that out of the 196 Toyota V8 vehicles expected to have been left at the presidency by the erstwhile government, only 74 were found.

In the same vein, only two out of 28 Toyota Avalon vehicles were found with 43 Toyota Landcruiser Prado vehicles also missing. But Mr Kwakye Ofosu said Mr Arhin’s assertions are all propaganda.

Meanwhile, Former Deputy Chief of Staff Johnny Osei Kofi has given a breakdown of the vehicles lodged at the presidency as part of the handing over.

“The claims of Eugene Arhin are false, baseless without merit,” he said in his statement on Thursday. “They represent a continuation of the distortions and bad faith that have characterised the conduct of the NPP side of the Transition team.”

He demanded from the government to give very specific details of the supposedly missing vehicles out of the list provided above.
