We’ve learned lessons from our defeat – NDC Hohoe Constituency

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency branch in Hohoe in the Volta region says it has learned lessons from losing the Hohoe parliamentary seat to the NPP in 2020 and vowed to deal ruthlessly with any individual who attempts to manipulate this year’s electoral process.

At a press briefing ahead of the upcoming limited registration exercise, the party’s Constituency Secretary, Prosper Kumi, alleged that plans are far advanced by their opponents to bus non-indigenes from other parts of the country to register in Hohoe and cautioned that they will resist any of such attempts.

The NDC for the first time since the introduction of multiparty democracy, lost a parliamentary seat in the Volta region to the NPP when John Peter Amewu snatched the Hohoe seat in the 2020 elections.

The party however, attributed this bitter loss to several infractions and rigging plots, accusing the NPP of vote-buying and busing of non-indigenes who registered and voted in Hohoe.

But heading into another intense political season ahead of the 2024 elections, the NDC in the constituency says it has learned lessons from the loss and will take steps to correct the wrongs.

Ahead of the nationwide limited registration exercise, the party has cautioned non-indigenes of Hohoe not to risk coming to any of the registration centers within the constituency.

The NDC in Hohoe has declared its resolve to work harder to reverse what they call “electoral theft,” which occurred in the 2020 December polls, from recurring in the 2024 polls, adding that, its parliamentary candidate, Worlanyo Tsekpo represents a new hope for the constituency.
