The Northern Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sofo Awudu Azorka has threatened that members of his party will face off with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) if it continues to preach violence which could provoke disturbances in the country.
The chairman warned of dire consequences if violence broke out as a result of unguided comments by some members of the opposition party including Northern Regional NPP Chairman Daniel Bugri Naabu.
Speaking at an event in Tamale organized by the women wing of the NDC under the auspices of the National Women’s Organizer Hajia Zaynab Joyce Mahama and attended by party heavyweights including the Regional Minister Abdullahi Abubakari, Azorka urged supporters of the party to ignore inciting commentaries by the NPP and continue advocating for peace ahead of the November polls.
He noted that the peaceful posture of the NDC should not be misjudged to mean cowardice and that the party will engage the NPP should they trigger any confusion.
“The NPP are always on radio stations preaching violence but you people you preach peace. But if violence come, Wallaahi, we will face violence”, Azorka declared
Azorka also took the regional chairman of the NPP Daniel Bugri Naabu to cleaners describing him as novice in politics for his incessant attacks on President Mahama led administration
The NDC party in the region recently said it has taken note of the NPP regional chairman’s relentless attacks and warned him to desist from it.
He told journalists the NPP only glorify war mongers and advised them to resist attempts to be used to break this nation.
“You see Bugri Naabu, I don’t want to be talking about him; He is not a politician. His ‘dinosis'(referring to his brain) is not working. He just feels that if he talks badly (violence) they will give him money. Bugri Naabu is nobody in this region. He can’t run here and here, he can’t do anything but he is preaching violence so you are the journalists I’m begging you people to let this country be at peace”
