The crave by some Africans, especially Ghanaians, to travel abroad in search for greener pastures keeps getting insatiable especially in the wake of various economic downturns in their countries.

Here in Ghana, never a month passes by without word of the deportation of illegal migrants from both the European Union, US and even Saudi Arabia. But have we stopped for a minute to analyse how most of these Ghanaian (and other African) migrants risk their lives to make their travelling dream a reality? Well, a recent report by CNN has revealed how migrants from sub-Saharan Africa nearly lost their lives in the heart of the Mediterranean as they tried to cross to Europe through a rickety boat. According to the report, the sad development saw young children lose their lives due to the boisterous nature of their travel.

So far, it remains unknown if indeed any Ghanaian was part of the train of migrants aboard the specific boat to Europe as the foreign affairs minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, is yet to confirm if indeed some nationals from Ghana were part of this deadly voyage. Meanwhile, president of the republic, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo has revealed that government will be considering ways by which it could address issues of illegal migration in the country.

Addressing a joint press conference with the president of Malta, the president reveals that government will be setting up a special committee to help illegal Ghanaian migrants reintegrate into the country.
