Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation Joseph Kofi Adda says his ministry intends to access funds from the Ghana Infrastructural Fund to complete Water Supply Project that will provide potable water to five districts in the Volta Region.

The beneficiary Districts, according to him, include the Adaklu Anyigbe, North Tongu, Central Tongu, Ho East and Ho West.

The project is estimated to serve a total population of 150,000 inhabitants by the year 2030 in 397 communities when completed.

Mr. Kofi Adda disclosed these when he answered a question from the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Kwame Governs Agbodza on the Water Supply Project.

He explained that the project was in three phases with phases one and two executed between 2011 and 2014, leaving phase three.

According to him, phase three which involves the distribution of networks was stalled due to lack of funds.

As part of efforts to complete the job, he said his Ministry will have discussions with the Ministry of Finance to re-open negotiations with the original financiers of the project for the funding gap of €17 million.

“The Ministry is much concern about outstanding works as any further delay will deny our people in the project area safe potable water,” Mr. Adda stated.

He pointed out that under the project, 1.1MGD water treatment plant has been completed at Mafi Adidome.

Furthermore, an 85.37km transmission lines have been completed.

Additionally, eight high level water tanks of various sizes have been completed at Dadoboe, Kpedzeglo, Kutime, Kanikope, Manese Zongo, Mafi Kumasi, Avedo Bakpa and Bagalikope.
