It is said that monkeys play by sizes.
It is against this background that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central and one of the NPP financiers, Mr. Kennedy Agyepong, has been saying that the party will show two (2) members of the current executives their true sizes.
The two are Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong.
Commenting on the recent show of power by the two, Mr. Kennedy Agyepong said, though given the mandate to steer affairs of the party, they stand the risk of possible impeachment if they continue to foment trouble in the party.
According to the Assin Central MP, they gave Chairman Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong the mandate to steer affairs of the party; but will not hesitate to pass a vote of no confidence in them, if they continue to be tyrannical and also take decisions without consulting majority of the National Executive committee.
According to him, he campaigned for Kwabena Agyepong because he thought he would do better; grimly disappointed in him (Kwabena Agyepong) following the way and manner he is going about things.
Unable to work out how power-tyrants the two have become, Mr. Kennedy Agyepong said, “no one is indispensable in the NPP; we will show Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong their real size.”
According to him, Chairman Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong should learn from the mistakes of Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey and Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu-Afriyie; former Chairman and General Secretary respectively, indicating that they will have themselves to blame if they do not last for even a year in office.
With the NPP’s quest to win power “at all cost” (with apologies to Nana Akufo- Addo) in 2016, the Assin Central MP unequivocally stated that they will not be spared if they fail to bring back the party to power in 2016.
Chairman Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong incurred the wrath of party members, particularly Mr. Freddie Blay, the First vice-chairperson of the NPP, when without extensive consultation they decided to relieve some old executives of their post and others to proceed on leave including the party’s deputy Communications Director, Mr. Perry Okudzeto.
Unable to let go of the autocratic manner in which Kwabena Agyepong is running affairs at the party’s Headquarters, the publisher of the Daily Guide newspaper went haywire revealing that the General Secretary has no respect for other members of the National Executive Committee.
According to him, Kwabena Agyepong treats them like kids and does not involve them in some of the major decisions that he takes.
Regarding the party’s Chairman, Mr. Freddie Blay bluntly refers to him as a liar when he tried to suggest that every decision they took was in consultation with the National Executive Committee of the party.
Speaking on JOY FM’s news program, TOP STORY last Tuesday; the First vice-chairman exposed his political boss when he (Afoko) said they had discussed the new changes at the party Headquarters, and as National Officers, collectively agreed to the changes.
The NPP in the past few days is said to be in turmoil as a result of the extreme arrogance of Kwabena Agyepong; and many political analysts have predicted doom for the NPP in 2016.
