Fawoade (Ash), Dec. 27, GNA - Well-to-do Ghanaians have been urged to show love and compassion to the needy and vulnerable people in society.
They should also use part of their wealth to support the poor and contribute to their welfare to enable them feel happy in society. Mr Simms Kofi Mensah, Chairman of Simms Electrical Company, made the appeal at a reception organised for people above 50 years in six communities in the Kwabre District of Ashanti at Fawoade on Christmas day.
About 200 aged persons from Fawoade, Yasare, Bampenase, Asenua, Asamanya and Adwumam were feted with food and drinks and treated to good music.
Mr Mensah said the aged have contributed immensely to the growth and development of the nation and there was the need for people, who had the means to assist them in their old age. He said the reception was to bring the aged persons in the district together to interact among themselves and show love to one another. Mr Mensah appealed to the people in the district to unite to ensure the speedy development of the area.
