Western North Regional Coordinating Council educates stakeholders on coronavirus

As part of measures to manage the spread of COVID 19,the Western North Regional Coordinating Council has educated leaders of market, traditional authorities, and transport operators in the Bibiani Anwhiaso Bekwai, Sefwi-Waiwso and Aowin municipalities.

Mr Kingsley Aboagye Gyedu, Western North Regional Minister, entreated the public to adhere to the preventive measures put in place to help curb the spread of the virus, which he mentioned as social distancing, avoiding crowded places, avoid handshakes and regular washing of hands under running water.

He ask them to be ambassadors and teach others what they have been taught at their various places in order to help stop the spread of the virus.

He caution residents to abide by the ban on public gathering, since the regional coordinating council had put in place measures to check and punish anyone who flouted the directive.

The Regional Minister used the occasion to hand over Veronica buckets, hand sanitizers, tissue paper, washing soaps, masks and reflective gear to be distributed to the leaders of markets and transport operators to be placed at vintage places in their respective municipalities.

He assured that the Coordinating Council was expecting more items and they would be distributed to all districts as and when they arrived.

Some of the market women and transport operators who spoke to the Ghana News Agency expressed their gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and the Coordinating Council for the measures taken in preventing the spread of covid-19 and promised to implement all the measures in their respective organisations.

They also promised to make good use of the items given them to help fight the spread of the virus.
