Takoradi, May 5, GNA - The Western Region would experience "above normal rainfall" of about 97 millimetres during the major rainfall season from April to June this year, Mr David Perry Osika, the Regional Metrological Officer said on Tuesday. Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Takoradi, he said this was because the amount of rainfall at many metrological stations in the region in April "exceeded the long time or climatological mean". Mr Osika said the expected rainfalls would be accompanied by strong winds that would tend to destroy anything on its path and advised the general public to rely on weather information on radio, television and from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO). He urged the public not take shelter under tall structures whenever there were thunderstorms as they usually affect such structures and called on construction engineers to install thunderstorm arresters on buildings they put up.
