Takoradi, Sept.17 -GNA-The Western Region branch of the Dagbon Youth Association (DYA) has proposed a "peace and reconciliation" conference between the two royal gates of Abudus and Andanis and also other stakeholders at Yendi to strengthen the ongoing peace process. This was contained in a letter to Alhaji Aliu Mahama the Vice President dated September 6 and signed by Alhaji Alhassan Adams, Chief Patron of the branch association whose members are from the Abudu and Andani gates.

The letter, which was copied to all Members of Parliament from Dagbon, the Northern Regional Minister and Naa Alhaji, Kumbung-Naa said unity, peace and reconciliation was the only way to find lasting solution to the conflict and not the blame game of accusations and counter accusations.

"As internal stakeholders, it is high time we took our own destiny into our hands, burry all differences and salvage the apparent disintegration or extinction of the great Dagbon kingdom", the letter stated. The association said the call for peaceful coexistence and genuine reconciliation however, does not negate the pursuance of justice in the cold blood murder of the Ya Naa and 49 elders four years ago. "The criminality surrounding the dastard event has to be isolated and dealt with by the security and justice systems and this is the responsibility of the Government", it stated.

The letter urged non-residents to be "part of the solution and not part of the problem", and called for all hands to be on deck to save Dagbon from the present seemingly insurmountable situation.

The association commended the Eminent Chiefs trying to bring peace to the area for what had been achieved so far and urged them not to rest on their oars until lasting peace and unity had been brought to the people of the area.
