What Awaits You If You Enter Canada And America Border’s Illegally [111]
An uncle of a president of a country is currently being prosecuted by the police for drunken driving as well as facing deportation orders from the country because he entered the country illegally.
Someone with the dream of making life a better one outside his original birth place where his nephew is currently the president of the country is facing deportation orders for close to two decades.
His nephew was not aware of his uncle’s case in the country where he is the president until last week when the suspect was arrested by the police in Framingham, Massachusetts of United States of America [USA], for drunk driving before his illegal stay in the country was made known to him.
Yes nearly two decades of this person’s life in a foreign destination that he sneaked into and has been residing there all these while without authorization to do so or what we call it living without a status in the country he is being removed from that country.
That is the story of the president of the United States of America Mr. Barak Obama’s uncle called Onyango Obama, who was arrested last week on drunken driving offences.
Accordingly, Onyango Obama, migrated to the United States of America, in the 1960s but had an outstanding warrant for his arrest as an illegal immigrant.
The 67 year old Onyango, who is from Kanya, is the brother of the presidents aunt who last year won the right to stay in the US after a deportation order as the president learnt this from his press secretary, Mr. Jay Carney who said,” we expect the case to be handled like any other case”. President Obama’s uncle, was issued with deportation warrant in 1992 but continued to stay in the country until last week when he was arrested in Framingham, about 20 miles west of Boston, after police said he made a rolling stop through a stop sign and nearly caused a cruiser to strike his sport utility vehicle as reported by the Washington Times.
Can you imagine that a whole president of USA, uncle be made to face the rigorous of the law for drunken driving as well as his arrest igniting a deportation order which was issued nearly 20 years ago?
Quite recently, when I put out an article touching on the frustrations some people go through in securing their status to live in their foreign destinations, I was misquoted as saying it was easy to sneak into USA where I said some one could live in the country for more than a decade fighting his status. As it was challenged, here comes this story of Mr. Onyango Obama, the uncle of President Barak Obama, who has been staying in USA for past twenty years fighting his status, ”ONNI NKRAATAA”.
This story has also come to support my point that when it comes to the issue of immigration, people do not want others to talk about it whiles they continue to suffer the frustrations they are going through as far as securing their status is concern.
Onyango Obama, an uncle of the president could have taken advantage of his relation with the president to get his status even long before Mr. Barak Obama became the president by using legal means to fight his case But what did the president say when his press secretary Mr. Jay Carney delivered the news to him?
“He became aware of this story when I walked into his office and among other subjects mentioned it to him” Jay Carney disclosed in addition that the president has said that all his family knew about the man was that he left for America decades ago and never returned to Kanya.
It is not only Onyango Obama, who is fighting deportation from United States of America. There are thousands of people currently living in that country that are facing deportation back to their original countries that no one knows about.
Nearly 400,000 immigrants were deported from America in the year 2009 and 2010 out of estimated 11 million immigrants already in the country. The first time illegal immigrants out numbered legal ones in America, was in 2008 where the number was peaked at estimated 11.9 million.
About 11.2 million illegal immigrants were living in the United States of America in 2010; a number essential unchanged from the previous year, a 2011 study has showed.
What about those who are languishing in jail for immigration offenses? No one knows because no one is prepared to probe further this immigration issues and find a lasting solution to it.
It is time to break the silence on issues concerning immigration and the disadvantages people face when they fail to go through the proper channel in entering their foreign countries of choice.
Remaining silent and see our brothers and sisters suffering in a foreign destination is not helpul to the good people of Ghana. Watch out for the part 3 of this heading as it will educate you about what will happen if you are a fugitive and crosses the border. What will your face do if you attempt? Read the next article.
