Reports that Member of Parliament for Abetifi and aspiring New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Dr Bryan Acheampong, distributed $1,500 to constituency executives in the Eastern Region have neither been confirmed nor denied by him.

The Member of Parliament for Abetifi said the issue is an internal party matter and not something to be discussed publicly.

In an interview on Joy News on December 16, 2025, Dr Bryan Acheampong was asked about a viral video in which he is heard speaking about financial support given to party executives.

When the host asked him directly whether he made the payments, he refused to respond, stating, “I’m not going to admit to anything.”

He explained that matters relating to internal party support should remain private.

“Internal party support is not for general public consumption,” he said, adding that whatever is done or discussed within the party should stay within the party.

According to him, his engagements with party members are private.

“If I meet party people and I’m talking to them about my contribution to the party, it is within that space,” he noted.

Although host pointed out that the video was circulating publicly, Bryan Acheampong maintained that he was speaking to party delegates. When it was suggested that there was nothing wrong with supporting the party financially, he stood by his position.

“That’s a party conversation, a conversation you have with party people,” he said.

While acknowledging that political parties operate in the public space, he stressed that internal discussions are limited to members.

“Membership of that party is restricted to, and conversation within is restricted to, members of the party,” he said.

He added that any official information meant for the public would be communicated through the party’s structures.

“What we want to put out, our press department will put out,” he said, stressing that internal contributions should remain known only to party members.

Pressed again on whether he gave $1,500 to constituency executives across the country, Dr Acheampong declined once more. “It doesn’t matter how you perm the numbers, the answer is the same. This is an internal party conversation, and it should stay there,” he stated.
