Canadian Prime Minister Carney has acknowledged President Mahama's role in leading a reset in Ghana
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his leadership in advancing reforms in Ghana and contributing to discussions on global challenges.
He made the remarks during a meeting with President Mahama on the sidelines of the 28th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Antigua and Barbuda on November 3, 2026.
The two leaders discussed issues of mutual interest, including Ghana's development and its role in international discussions on governance and global cooperation.
During the engagement, Carney acknowledged what he described as President Mahama's role in leading a reset both within Ghana and the wider international system.
“We just had your Foreign Minister in Canada, and we’re working towards an MOU on other aspects. You’ve helped to lead a reset, both domestically and within the system as a whole,” he said.
The meeting formed part of President Mahama's diplomatic engagements at the Commonwealth summit, which brought together leaders from member countries to discuss shared priorities and strengthen cooperation.
