What Dangote said about a percentage of his wealth in the event of his death

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has pledged 25 percent of his personal wealth to the Aliko Dangote Foundation, cementing his position as one of Africa’s leading philanthropists.

Dangote made the announcement in Lagos on December 11, 2025, during the launch of the Foundation’s new education-focused initiative.

He described the pledge as a long-term commitment to creating social impact and ensuring the sustainability of his philanthropic work.

“In the event of my death, I have already made arrangements for 25 percent of my wealth to go to my foundation. My three children and my mother have signed the agreement. This means that whatever happens to me, 25 percent of what I leave behind will be given to the foundation,” Dangote said in a video shared by Metro Naija on December 12, 2025.

As part of the initiative, Dangote revealed plans to invest ₦100 billion in 2026 to support 155,009 learners across Nigeria, significantly expanding access to education for disadvantaged children.

He also pledged an annual ₦590 million to sustain a school for orphaned girls in Maiduguri, committing that the support would continue “as long as the school remained in existence.”

The Aliko Dangote Foundation, established several years ago, has grown into one of Africa’s largest privately funded charitable organisations.

The latest move by the billionaire is expected to transform learning opportunities for thousands of vulnerable children, particularly in northern Nigeria, and further cement Dangote’s legacy as a leading force in African philanthropy.
