The Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has challenged the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, to put out his alternative plan to reduce the current high cost of living in Ghana.

According to him, Mr. Mahama cannot continue to keep quiet over what policies and programmes he'll roll out to make Ghanaians a bit relieved from the current harsh economic crises.

Speaking on State of Affairs on GHOne TV, monitored by GhanaWeb, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who is the Vice Chairman of the NPP Manifesto Committee, urged John Mahama to be bold and let Ghanaians know his plans for them as he goes around campaigning to become president.

"On cost of living and energy prices. Dr. Bawumia has put out an alternative plan. He says I am going to do 200 MW of solar power to bring down the cost of energy. Public transportation cost, he says because fuel prices go up, I am making spare parts containers pay duties at a at a cedi-based flat rate, not more than it is in Togo.

"I am also working to stabilise the currency through the gold purchase programme. In the end, spare parts prices should stabilise and if we add electric bases to it, transportation costs should come down. He has told you that fuel prices specifically, he is doing the gold for oil programme to bring them down.

"What are Mr. Mahama's alternative prepositions to the cost of living? You hear people saying every day that times are hard. Dr. Bawumia has put his prepositions out there; what are Mr. Mahama's prepositions? Those are the kinds of questions and debates that Ghanaians are looking to go through to make a decision for December 7, the Ofoase Ayirebi MP stated.
