A planned "thank you tour" by the National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has generated debate among some social media users, with some questioning the motive behind the move.
The three-day tour, scheduled for September 17 to 19, 2025, will cover 16 constituencies in the Eastern Region.
It has been officially announced as a follow-up appreciation exercise to acknowledge the contributions of party executives, cadres and grassroots organisers who played significant roles in the NDC's victory in the 2024 general elections.
Party officials insist the programme is strictly meant to celebrate and encourage the NDC's base for their efforts, according to a graphiconline.com report; however, not everyone is convinced.
On social media platform X, many users openly questioned the timing and intent of the initiative, with some suggesting it could be a subtle attempt by Asiedu Nketiah to position himself for a possible presidential bid.

"What is the thank you for exactly?" one user asked.
"Thank you tour? What does he want?" another added.
Others dismissed the tour as premature campaigning, with one commenter writing, "He started campaigning too early."
Some reactions were sarcastic, with one user referring to the NDC Chairman as "the smartest man on the earth," while another quipped, "Asiedu Nketia vs Kennedy Agyapong."

Thank your on what bases? African politics is just like inheritance. I have been there so let me also become president with zero knowledge of developmental projects which can benefit the country.

The next person to lead the NDC in 2028 is still not known. Prof Naana Jane, Asiedu Nketia, Julius Debrah and the rest. Iโm alive to witness it.
