'Who said it is illegal?' - Customer challenges task force at quarry site

A customer at a quarry purported to be operating illegally has challenged task force that confronted him at the site.

He insisted that the process was meant to level the landscape to pave the way for development and hence does not see any wrongdoing.

He further contended that he cannot be blamed for patronising the stones since there’s no indication that the quarry is operating illegally.

In a video shared by THE STATE NEWS and sighted by GhanaWeb on July 29, 2026, he stated that he does not believe what he is doing is illegal.

“I have taken someone’s money to come and buy the stones. Who says this is illegal? We are doing the same work at Kwabenya, and I have been in this business since 2013. Until now, I have never heard that it is illegal,” he said, questioning the basis of the enforcement.

He further stressed that responsibility should not fall on him but on those selling the stones.

“If there are problems, they should be addressed with those selling the stones on the land, not me, because I only came to buy them,” he argued.

When asked what he would do if the police arrested him, he said the police could not arrest him, insisting that he was doing the right thing and not breaking any law.

He said, “The police cannot arrest me. Like, I said, I only came to purchase stones with someone else’s money.”
