Mr Goosie Tanoh, presidential candidate of the National Reform Party (NRP) has said at Wa that he broke away from the NDC to form the NRP because the NDC is not transparent and accountable to the people.
He said the NDC's claim of being accountable is untrue because it has now become the property of only a few, while the majority of the people have no voice in its affairs. Mr Tanoh was answering questions at a public forum attended by a cross section of the public, including opinion leaders, members of professional associations and workers. The forum was dubbed ''The people's summit. Rising together." He said the resources of the nation are being mismanaged to the benefit of a few people and their families, adding that they send their children to schools abroad and fill their pockets to the neglect of other citizens.
He said agriculture, health and education have virtually collapsed because funds which should have gone into these sectors find their way elsewhere. Mr Tanoh said an NRP government would give priority attention to the training of teachers to upgrade their skills to provide quality teaching. Agricultural extension officers will also be given the requisite training and facilities to increase farmers' access to modern farming techniques.
