The Member of Parliament(MP) for the Tolon constituency who doubles as the First Deputy Majority Whip in Parliament, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, has disclosed that he asked for the Tolon road contract of National Democratic Congress(NDC) financier, Alhaji Fuzak Yushaw a.k.a Yelzoli to be terminated.

The lawmaker disclosed that the contract had to be terminated and given to a new contractor due to his inability to work on the project as agreed in the engagement terms.

He stated that for 8 years, the NDC contractor failed to work on the road that was awarded to him until 2 months ago when he visited that site.

"I aided for Fuzak's contract to be terminated because of his inability to perform. The Ministry of Roads will not terminate a contract because Habib said so, but it must meet some criteria, and that's what happened." He disclosed on Tamale-based Diamond FM.

He noted that the road contract was divided into two, and one was given to another contractor who completed and tarred his portion, but Fuzak refused to work on his part.

"I personally asked Fuzak why he was not working on the road and what his challenges are. Then he said he did some work, and they are not paying him, so I asked him to bring the certificate for me to assist in pushing it for payment.

"The contract was awarded to him in September 2016, but he failed to visit the site until 2 months ago when they terminated the contract. Why will they award a road contract to you, and for 8 years you haven't visited the site," the MP quizzed.

Hon. Iddrisu claimed that some constituents died on the road due to Fuzak's inability to work on it.

"In fact, people died on that road, the road Fuzak refused to work on, and people had broken legs and arms because they were involved in an accident on that same road," he lamented.

"So yes, I terminated the contract because I want to develop my people, and I want to ensure that my constituency is developed, so if you will be a problem, I will definitely take the contract from you.

"I am ready to take away any contact from anybody if it is not going to be beneficial to my people and constituency, and I will not do it because I hate you or anything but because you failed to do the work." He justified the termination.
