The Public Relations Officer for the Yagbonwura of Gonjaland, Saaka Seidu Bakari, has explained the circumstances leading to the ban on Samuel Abu Jinapor from all palaces in the traditional area.

Speaking in an interview on Onua FM on Monday, July 22, Seidu Bakari asserted that the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources orchestrated and interfered in the release of arrested individuals who had unlawfully demolished pillars on people’s land, despite a directive issued by the chief forbidding such actions.

According to Seidu Bakari, the arrests initiated by the chief were intended to serve as a deterrent to individuals who terrorize people and unlawfully encroach on their lands.

Additionally, Seidu Bakari stated that Abu Jinapor failed to honour an invitation from the Yagbonwura to address issues about the constituency, for almost a year.

Furthermore, he alleged that Abu Jinapor did not respond to calls from the chief regarding these matters.

He also affirmed earlier reports that Abu Jinapor’s ban was in connection with his interference with chieftaincy matters.

In response to a question on whether the Yagbonwura suspects Abu Jinapor’s interference in chieftaincy affairs, Seidu Bakari said “Yes. Based on all the information I have gotten; behind the scenes he has pushed people to do all that...”.

Meanwhile, Seidu Bakari disclosed that the Yagbonwura would only overturn the ban directive if Samuel Abu Jinapor apologizes and assures to be of good behaviour.

“He’s a royal, he knows what to do. The father is a chief too so they know what to do. These are simple things, not so complex but they know what to do.

“The chief said till the day he comes to apologize to him that ‘I will be of a good behaviour’, simple. He doesn’t hate him because he knows he’s a royal so if he comes to apologize, he will be given a time period to do what will be required of him and that is all; Not forever”, he noted.

The Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Soale Jewu Soale, King of Gonjaland earlier issued a ban to prevent Samuel Abu Jinapor from visiting any palace in Gonjaland.

“Let me state this authoritatively that from today, no chief in Gonjaland should allow Abu Jinapor to come by himself or lead or accompany any government official or politician to any palace in Gonjaland. Any chief who disobeys this order will have himself to blame,.

“It is not a secret that Abu Jinapor uses the powers of government to circumvent the traditional authority and orders of the Yagbonwura in an attempt to evade accountability and to counter the orders so given by the Yagbonwura. This is mostly done deliberately in order to get the Yagbonwura feel worthless, powerless and of no value in the eye of the public.

“Enough of his arrogance and disrespect. I will deal with any chief who will entertain him or in the company of any government official to his palace,” the Yagbonwura stressed.

Meanwhile, Samuel Abu Jinapor has refuted the accusations in a statement, clarifying that he has no interest in meddling in chieftaincy matters.
