The Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has dismissed criticisms from the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) describing them as unserious and lacking the credibility to contribute constructively to national discourse.
According to him, Ghanaians do not take NPP serious because during their time in office they failed to demonstrate responsibility and sincerity in addressing issues affecting the country.

“I do not think that we currently have a responsible opposition that is willing to constructively help write the wrongs that may occur within government. I see people who are not taking responsibility for their evil or what they have done wrong against this country,” Gbande said in an interview with GHOne TV and monitored by GhanaWeb on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
He stressed that the principle of equity demands clean hands, a standard the New Patriotic Party in his view, does not meet.

“Whoever calls for equity must come with clean hands. They don’t have clean hands. So, we ourselves are using the authority and power that Ghanaians have given us to do the bidding of Ghanaians.
“Even when God’s people met, the devil was present. So, they would criticise, they would distract, they would try to make noise. But the question is, what is the ordinary Ghanaian seeing?” he quizzed.
