A Deputy Minister of Information, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has indicated that the death of former Ashanti Regional Minister and MP for Kwabre West, Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu Ansah, was the result of rumours that President Mills was dead.

The ruling NDC’s aspiring MP who linked rumours about the president’s death to the opposition NPP, stressed that Mr. Owusu Ansah, an NPP MP died because his party had alleged that President Mills was dead. “Anytime they say Prof Mills is dead, one of them dies. Very unfortunately, we woke up this morning only to hear that the former Ashanti Regional MP for Kwabre West has died,” he stressed.

He added that it was not the first time the opposition was suffering such a fate. Mr. Ablakwa, who is noted for playing on the emotions of the electorate, gave scenarios from as far back as 2007, linking the deaths recorded in the camp of the opposition to rumours about President Mills’ death. He said, “In 2007, they said Atta Mills was dying, Ala-Adjetey died, Courage Quashigah died, Hawa Yakubu died, Theresa Tagoe died, Baah Wiredu died.

He made these remarks when he was addressing students and members of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) chapter of the Evangelical Presbyterian University College (EPUC) in Ho.

The group was holding its handing over ceremony under the theme, “The Role of TEIN in Winning Election 2012. Mr. Ablakwa, who was very emphatic in his submission, interestingly used the Bible to back his claims, saying, “That is why God warned in the Bible that “touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm.” He wondered why despite the warning of the Bible and the deaths in the opposition, the NPP had not changed its ways.

He quizzed, “How many people do they want to die on their side before they stop that fake politics? You see, we don’t wish our opponents dead, but they must remember that God is very strict about certain things, adding, “A word to the wise is enough.” Mr. Ablakwa stated, “for their own sake, Prof. Mills is a blessed man.

They should stop bringing damnations upon themselves. He added that President Mills was God’s chosen leader and that come December, he would be retained by God. “If God has professed that you are the leader, no matter what happens you will become a leader. Your brothers can decide to kill you, dig a pit and bury you in it, like Joseph’s brothers did and yet Joseph became a Prime Minister,” he sated. Our condolences to them; we sympathise with their families, but they should stop declaring Atta Mills dead.
