Why Rawlings Was Banned From Burma Camp.

President Kufuor has explained that the recent ban slammed on President Rawlings from visiting the stables at Burma Camp was for security reasons.

According to him, the nations coup making history clearly shows that most of coup d’etats were hatched and executed from the Burma Camp. An Evening News report quoted President Kufuor as saying that President Rawlings has been in power for about twenty years and with the trappings of power, his frequent visits to high risk security zones like Burma Camp was not in the best interest of the nation.

He added that although the country has now adopted democracy, coup d’etats cannot be fully ruled out considering the fact that “our democracy is still young.”

On the number of suits filed against him by the NDC, President Kufuor stated that he found the NDC amusing. According to him, he takes all decisions based on the constitution and it would therefore be difficult for the NDC to win their cases against him.

He cited the suit filed against him on his appointment of heads of security agencies without consulting the Council of State as demanded by the constitution and explained that the security chiefs were appointed in their acting capacities pending the appointment of a council of state.
