Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has issued a sharp rebuttal to recent criticisms from Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, the running mate of John Dramani Mahama, concerning the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 2024 campaign slogan, “It is possible.”

During an engagement with female media professionals in Accra, Prof. Opoku Agyemang cautioned Ghanaians about the NPP’s slogan, asserting that the party has repeatedly failed to deliver on its promises. She highlighted the protests by pensioner bondholders at the Finance Ministry as evidence of the government's failure to meet its commitments.

In an interview on Channel One TV, Dennis Miracles Aboagye dismissed these criticisms, stating that such negative rhetoric would not influence Ghanaians in the upcoming elections. He expressed confidence that the electorate would focus on the NPP’s tangible achievements and forward-looking vision rather than the opposition's attacks.

“We’re serious in this election, propaganda will not wash, tweak and twist will not wash,” Aboagye emphasized. He argued that holding Dr. Bawumia, the current Vice President, solely responsible for the country's economic challenges is unfair, especially when compared to Mahama, who previously served as President.

Aboagye also refuted Mahama's claims that Dr. Bawumia is incapable of leading Ghana, labeling such assertions as “bogus.” He questioned Prof. Opoku Agyemang’s effectiveness during her tenure as Education Minister, asking why she failed to implement significant reforms at that time.

“[Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang] was the Minister of Education. The former President [Mahama] says that when he becomes President, he will give her oversight of education. What is she coming to fix? Why didn’t she fix it when she was the Education Minister?” Aboagye questioned.

He further criticized Mahama's promise of a 24-hour economy, questioning why this promise was not fulfilled during his presidency.

“The former President says that when he becomes President, he will give us a 24-hour economy. He was President; why didn’t he bring us the 24-hour economy? Did you ever read anywhere that they say that a good leader is the one who doesn’t encounter challenges? A good leader is one who in the midst of challenges is able to mobilize the people and get them out of it, giving them confidence and courage that it is possible.”

He urged Ghanaians to focus on the NPP’s achievements and future plans, rather than the opposition's criticisms.

“Former President Mahama, all the things he’s promising, why didn’t he do it when he was President? Did he do them?” he added.
