Why is NPP crying more than the bereaved? – NDC quizzes

Members of the ruling NDC are questioning the undue interest shown by the NPP in the events that led to the arrest of the Managing Director of Marbles & Granites, Dr. Edmund Ayo Ani by the Police over the weekend.

Dr. Ani and two others were arrested last Friday at the instance of Alhaji Baba Kamara for allegedly taking photos of over 50 Mahindra vehicles that were being branded in the colours of the NDC at his yard along the Spintex road and circulated on social media.

The pictures which went viral had the narrative that the vehicles belonged to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) but were being re-branded in the colours of the ruling party for their political campaign.

The NDC subsequently reacted to the matter stating that the said vehicles didn’t belong to the NCCE.

Alhaji Kamara is also reported to have insisted that anyone who had information of any wrong doing on his part must report the matter to the police.

Dr. Ani was later released on Sunday.

A day after (Monday, April 4, 2016), this website is told that Dr. Ani and his lawyers visited Alhaji Kamara at his office at the Flagstaff House where the latter after talking to them decided not to pursue the matter anymore.

The National Security Capo we are told was of the conviction that since the ownership of the vehicles have been ascertained and now was evidently clear that the NCCE had not stake in the vehicles, there was no need to continue with the case further.

Members of the NDC have therefore expressed shock that the opposition party would make capital out of the issue when those involved in it have resolved the matter.

NPP at a press conference at the party’s headquarters, Tuesday, accused the National Security Advisor of “taking the country back to the regime of settling civil disputes through the use of the coercive tools of the criminal justice system of the State”.

In the view of the elephant family, Mr. Kamara should have resorted to the use of civil action against Dr. Ani even if he believed his privacy was violated.

Kasapafmonline.com’s information though is that the security capo who had sought to find an amicable solution to the issue had gone on to report the matter to the police, who effected the arrest.

Alhaji Kamara is reported to have expressed his disappointment at the opposition NPP’s attempt to take advantage of the situation to rouse disaffection for the NDC.

He is reported to have urged everyone to desist from cyber bullying since it is most unfair to the people involved.
