The Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr is wondering why government appointees think President Akufo-Addo deserves plaudit for the enskinment of a New Yaa Naa in Dagbon.

According to him, others also contributed to the current state of Dagbon and must be acknowledged.

History was made on Friday when a new Yaa Naa, Mahama Abukari II was enskinned after 17 years of protracted dispute.

After the beautiful ceremony, praises started pouring in for President Akufo-Addo for ensuring that a new Yaa Naa is finally crowned.

However, Kwesi Pratt is not enthused about that.

“When it comes to the resolution of the Dagbon conflict, that one; superman did it all, what kind of logic is that? what about the soldiers and policemen who stayed there for weeks, the eminent chiefs…what about all the other people, they take no credit? What about previous government and heads of state, they take no credit? All these jostling for praise…praise for what? We need to extend this congratulations to all other heads of state: former President Kufuor, Atta Mills, John Mahama…” he indicated.

Kwesi Pratt who was contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, said “if we sit down and pretend that the enskinment of yaa naa is an indication that peace has been restored in our country, something is wrong with us…the security situation in this country has not improved that much. Even in Dagbon we must be careful…”

“There is no doubt that Dagbon could not have chosen a better Yaa Naa than this…you can only conclude that this is the best Yaa Naa for the moment. I am encouraged by the statements he’s made so far…so I am comfortable with the enskinment and I am hopeful that he will contribute to the advancement and growth of Ghana and Dagbon. I congratulate the new Yaa Naa and the people of Dagbon; however, I know so many people are in pain because of the reckless disregard of law and order; they are in pain so many people have been widowed and orphaned but in the face of all of these, they have managed to enskin a new Yaa Naa and I think they deserve congratulations…there’s lots of work ahead to secure the interest and security of our people” he added.
