Why some SHS students reportedly attacked a teacher on campus

A group of students from Kade Senior High School in the Eastern Region have reportedly attacked a teacher after he enforced disciplinary measures on campus.

Multiple reports online indicate that the students ambushed the teacher and launched a coordinated assault on him.

In a viral video circulating online, a student was seen hitting the teacher, while others used a branch of a tree to hit him as he tried to protect himself.

"Tension is said to be high at Kade Senior High School in the Eastern Region after a troubling incident involving some students and a teacher. According to preliminary reports, a group of students allegedly ambushed and assaulted a teacher who had recently intensified disciplinary enforcement on campus," an X post shared on December 5, 2025, read.

According to the post, the teacher, known for upholding strict rules in the school, had become a target for some students.

"Sources indicate that the teacher, known for upholding strict rules to restore order in the school, had become a target for some disgruntled students who were unhappy with the new measures. The attack is believed to be directly linked to his firm stance on discipline," it added.

The incident has since raised concerns over growing indiscipline in some senior high schools in the country.

In April 2025, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, instructed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to take immediate steps to restore discipline in senior high schools nationwide.

He raised concerns about what he described as a troubling breakdown in discipline within the country’s educational institutions
