Will your husband divorce you if you allow us to partake in the upcoming December polls? The presidential nominee of United Fronted Party (UFP), Nana Agyenim Boateng, has asked the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Charlotte Osei.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Fox FM morning show, Nana Boateng explained that he does not understand why the EC took an entrenched position for this issue to be heard at the apex court of the land, before he and his colleague presidential nominees could correct mistakes on their documents submitted to the commission.

He stated: “Mrs. Osei is behaving as if the husband will divorce her should the 12 disqualified candidates be allowed to participate in the December polls.”

On Monday, the apex court of the land, presided over by Mrs. Justice Sophia Adinyira, directed the EC to give all the 12 disqualified candidates a fair hearing. In the said judgment, the court also extended the nomination period from Monday November 7 to Tuesday November 8, 2016, to enable the affected parties contest the December 7 elections.

An obviously-elated UFP presidential candidate, who was reacting to the Supreme Court ruling ordering the EC to allow disqualified candidates to correct anomalies on their forms and take part in the elections, told the host, Akwasi Boateng, that the Chairperson has brought the hard-earned reputation of the commission into disrepute.

Describing the EC Chairperson, who has lost two legal cases less in two weeks, a heated Nana Agyenim Boateng, who is better known as Gyataba, wondered why Mrs. Charlotte Osei behaves as if she the commission is her personal property, and throws away stipulated rules of the EC and foist that of her own on Ghanaians.

In furtherance to the Supreme Court ruling, Gyataba indicated that the UPF has submitted all the needed particulars to the EC office to partake in the December polls.

He told Ghanaians to vote for the UFP, since they are ready to rule and redeem Ghanaians from the shackles of poverty.
