The Winneba Police on Friday arrested one of the armed robbers who attacked and killed Mr. Edmond Thomas Moses at his house at Lancaster in Winneba, and made away with a phone and GH¢3,000.00.

The Winneba Municipal Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Martin Asamoah, who made this known in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Winneba on Friday, said his name was Solomon Ntri Ayee.

He said Ayee has been placed in police custody and is helping in their investigations.

DSP Asamoah said the police received a call that armed robbers had attacked the residence of the deceased who is an agent of the Glo Telecommunication in Winneba.

He said the district Police patrol team rushed to the place only to see the deceased shot in the chest whiles the wife said the armed robbers broke into their room and demanded the money from the husband who released them along with his mobile phone.

He said the robbers told Mr. Moses and the wife that the money was too small and immediately the husband opened his mouth to talk one of the robbers shot him and took the phones.

DSP Asamoah said the patrol team later received a telephone call from Winneba Zion School area that the robbers have again attacked Mr. Joseph Kwame Armah, a Susu collector, and rushed to the scene.

He said over there, the robbers also made away with a phone and 5,000.00 Ghana cedis and hit him with a stick before leaving the place.

The Commander said the Patrol team in their efforts to apprehend the robbers mounted a road block on the Winneba Junction- Cape Coast road and arrested Ayee and retrieved two hand bags which contained some SIM cards.

The Commander said the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Winneba Government Hospital Mortuary to be transferred to the Police Hospital in Accra, and the two wounded persons are receiving treatment from the Winneba Government Hospital.

This is the second time in a month that armed robbers have attacked and killed people in the area.
