Winner of Presidential Pitch season 3 gets GH¢100,000

Douglas Akoglo emerged as the overall winner of the third season of the Presidential Pitch Programme which was held at Movenpick Hotel in Accra on July 1, 2020.

Douglas Akoglo made an impressive presentation on how his company, Sheacoal Zoyanna Enterprise, turns shea butter waste into coal for cooking.

Mr Akoglo received a cash prize of GHC70,000 with an additional amount of GHC30,000 from President Akufo-Addo as a personal donation.

He will also get a fully funded work-study programme outside the country. In addition to that, Mr Akoglo will be attached to a reputable company in Europe to experience good work practices and build the needed network, as well as access to funding sources and market.

The other nine winners received between GHC30,000 and GHC45,000 each.

President Akufo-Addo stated that the winners will continue to receive mentorship and business advisory services.

“This is a demonstration of Governments’ commitment to build an ecosystem that fosters opportunity and innovation-driven youth entrepreneurship. The Presidential Pitch winners will continue to receive mentorship, coaching, and business advisory services over the next three years free of charge.”

“My confidence in the sheer energy and can-do spirit of the Ghanaian makes me believe that, in you, the contestants I have met today, the future of the Ghanaian private sector is extremely promising,” he added.

The Presidential Pitch

The Presidential Pitch is a project designed and organised by the Ministry of Business Development to offer young Ghanaian entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 the opportunity to market their business ideas and get financial assistance to implement those ideas.
