Former National Democratic Congress(NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for La Dadekotopon, Nii Amasah Namoale has warned the Electoral Commission (EC) and the New Patriotic Party(NPP) that the NDC will make Ghana stand still should they lose the 2020 election come December.

He was speaking on Accra FM in an interview monitored by MyNewsGH.com where he warned the EC to amend its body language and let Ghanaians and NDC members believe the election is not meant to crown Akufo-Addo by hook or crook.

Serving a notice, Namoale said “we will demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate…” he kept emphasizing.

“I am telling you we will make this country standstill and they will see we mean business. I am repeating again, we will fight them. We will demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate and demonstrate!… with or without new register, if NDC doesn’t win the election, I am telling you we will make this country standstill’.

Nii Amasah Namoale said the NDC is confident of winning the election with John Mahama but the EC appears to be pursuing an agenda to 'steal' the people’s mandate.

The main opposition NDC and other parties against the compilation of new voters’ register by the Electoral Commission ahead of the December general elections have vowed to fight on.

The first protest to challenge plans of the new register was held at Tamale in the Northern Region followed by another one in Kumasi two days ago.

The group insists a new register is a waste of taxpayers money and could also create tension since the election is close.

The electoral commission, however, insists they will go ahead and create the register despite the disagreement by the parties and civil society organisations.
